Bleeding Birler

Before Death swept the Kingdom, this zombie led a simple life. Hewing down mighty trees for lumber wasn't glorious nor profitable but it was honest work. Its only claim to fame was being the best at log rolling in folk competitions. The birler had thought it odd then when a pale, mysterious noble took interest in them. Still, they didn't mind their company and eventually, the necking session which left them weak and feverish. Perhaps they would have ended up a vampire spawn, but tragedy found them and so many others raised into undeath in a different way. The vampiric taint still clings to this shambler. Its wounds constantly bleed leaving it with slick read patches and an axe dripping half-congealed blood. Instead of chopping down trees, it fells the living all the while seeking that pale lover. -Records of the Charnel House Bleeding Birler Medium undead (zombie), neutral evil Armor Class 10 Hit Points 45 (6d8 + 18) ...

Rubedo

Instead of being the usual sickly green and withered grey, Rubedo's pallor is one of a deep, consistent scarlet from exposed skull to bootless feet. An alchemist of some skill before Death swept the Kingdom, it attempted to stave off zombification by a hastily mixed concoction. Instead, it turned itself into a seeping, vile thing full of unbalanced humors. It still hungers for the flesh of the living like all of its kin. -Records of the Charnel House Rubedo Medium undead (zombie), neutral evil Armor Class 8 Hit Points 67 (9d8 + 27) Speed 20ft Str 15 Dex 6 Con 17 Int 12 Wis 6 Cha 5 Condition Immunities blinded, exhaustion, poisoned Damage Resistances acid, fire Damage Immunities poison Senses darkvision 60 ft., passive Perception 8 Languages understands Common, Elvish, and Gnomish but can't speak Challenge 3 (700 XP) ...

The Web

One half of the Spider and the Web, this risen drow was an assassin sent to deal with a pesky human when Death swept the Kingdom. It and its sibling were merely in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now it is an ashen husk of a creature covered in crisscross lacerations leaking putrid magic with remnants of a spider-silk raiment hanging from its twisted physique. The Web saps energy from its nearby victims, slowing their hearts and limbs Oftentimes, the prey is already affected by the Spider's venomous nature and has little hope of survival. Worse yet, the drow twins still carry a mystical connection. One will not lay at rest while the other still plagues the living. -Records of the Charnel House The Web Medium undead (zombie), chaotic evil Armor Class 8 Hit Points 102 (12d8 + 48) Speed 20ft Climb 20ft Str 16 Dex 6 Con 18 Int 10 Wis 12 Cha 14 Condition Immunities blinded, ex...

The Spider

One half of the Spider and the Web, this risen drow was an assassin sent to deal with a pesky human when Death swept the Kingdom. It and its sibling were merely in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now it is an ashen husk of a creature missing the middle of its jaw, broken bones slick with gangrene jut from its arms. The Spider crawls up on its victims and assails them with rot-poisoned attacks. Oftentimes, the prey is already affected by the Web's aura and cannot get away. Deathshead

No one quite recalls what the zombie was before Death swept the Kingdom. There are some clues that it had been a venerable monk covered in all manner of mystical tattoos, the most prominent of which was that of a moth. Its essence was trapped in that very bit of ink as it tried to escape this terrible fate. From corpse to corpse it jumps now, always destroying the eyes of its new host. But, it needs not eyes to see for its very hatred of light drives the creature... or perhaps it longs for a warmth it can never again enjoy. -Records of the Charnel House Deathshead Medium undead (zombie), chaotic evil Armor Class 9 Hit Points 52 (7d8 + 21) Speed 40ft Str 15 Dex 8 Con 16 Int 3 Wis 11 Cha 5 Condition Immunities blinded, exhaustion, poisoned Damage Resistances falling damage Damage Immunities poison Senses darkvision 60 ft., passive Perception 13 Languages ...

Rust Maw

A horrific abomination, the zombie known as Rust Maw hunted before Death swept the Kingdom and still does so to this day. Of course, now its quarry is something different altogether. No one is quite sure how its lower jaw was replaced with a rusted beartrap, or just how deep the attached chain goes into its gullet. However, it gives the shambler one hell of a bit. Worse yet, it turns lesser zombies into 'living' traps. Exploding in a rain of gore, the zombies stifle prey trying to run away. Then Rust Maw and its hanger-on's feast. -Records of the Charnel House Rust Maw Medium undead (zombie), neutral evil Armor Class 9 Hit Points 45 (6d8 + 18) Speed 20ft Str 15 Dex 8 Con 16 Int 3 Wis 16 Cha 7 Skills Survival +7 Condition Immunities exhaustion, poisoned, restrained Damage Immunities poison Senses darkvision 60 ft., passive Perception 13 ...

Soot Foot

Prior to Death claiming the Kingdom, the zombie dubbed Soot Foot was just another of the faceless masses. While he was a chimney sweep of notable skill, no one noted the ash-smeared lad. Surely, he could have made some money it a sideshow with his double-jointed talents but he preferred the quiet life. He perished in the middle of a job, his already pliant joints tearing into compound fractures as he scrambled to find the flesh of the living. The toxins soaked into his rotting skin give him a unique virality that leaves fiery undead in his weak and he never leaves the cinder of his chimney lairs far behind. -Records of the Charnel House Soot Foot Medium undead (zombie), chaotic evil Armor Class 8 Hit Points 45 (6d8 + 18) Speed 20ft Climb 20ft Str 16 Dex 6 Con 16 Int 3 Wis 8 Cha 5 Skills Stealth +2 Damage Resistances fire Condition Immunities exhaustion, poisoned ...

The Cackling Corpse

This zombie's name is right on the nose, well, it would be if there wasn't a festering, red hole where its nose used to be. Sporting a soiled jester's outfit of purple and yellow, the zombie moves with startling alacrity, the jingle of rusted bells, and menacing laughter toward its prey. A revered children's entertainer before Death claimed the region, the cackling corpse still holds a soft spot for the young somewhere in its rotten brain. No matter how hungry it is, the risen will never attack a child (or halfling) and has on many occasions scooped up a youngster in its putrid arms and whisked them away to safety. -Records of the Charnel House The Cackling Corpse Medium undead (zombie), chaotic evil Armor Class 13 Hit Points 142 (19d8 + 57) Speed 40ft Str 14 Dex 6 Con 18 Int 6 Wis 13 Cha 5 Saving Throws Wis +2 Condition Immunities exhaustion, poisoned D...

The Tombrobbed

Long kept on display in the Royal Museum, this preserved giant's corpse was pulled out of a tarpit with a great of its blackened flesh attached. At the time, it was thought to have been an esteemed member of a now-defunct tribe of giants that once ruled the region. Ever since Death swept the Region, it is a lumber pile of oozing tar, hunger, and a great deal more rotting flesh that is not its own. Each creature it absorbs adds more 'muscle' mass to the giant zombie, their warped, slick bodies filling out the regal form that once was. -Records of the Charnel House The Tombrobbed Large undead (zombie), neutral evil Armor Class 8 Hit Points 133 (14d10 + 56) Speed 20ft Str 14 ex 6 Con 18 Int 6 Wis 13 Cha 5 Saving Throws Wis +4 Condition Immunities exhaustion, poisoned Damage Vulnerabilities fire Damage Resistances necrotic Damage Immunities poison Sen...

The Hollow-Horned

Covered with pus-mattered fur and patches of putrid flesh, the hollow-horned was once a goat that grew to tremendous size by grazing on the necrotic leavings after Living Death swept the region. Of course, it soon succumbed to what it consumed. Its great, curled rack hangs broken from its temples, held in place by tendrils of ectoplasm. Its black hooves seep power to other shamblers. Its call is one of a multitude of miseries able to chill the blood of even the most stalwart souls. -Records of the Charnel House The Hollow-Horned Large undead (zombie), chaotic evil Armor Class 9 Hit Points 52 (8d10 + 8) Speed 40ft Str 17 Dex 8 Con 13 Int 3 Wis 14 Cha 6 Saving Throws Wis +4 Condition Immunities exhaustion, poisoned Damage Immunities poison Senses darkvision 60 ft., passive Perception 12 Languages Common, Draconic Challenge 2 (450 XP) ...

Dean of Death

An asymmetrical 'beard' matted with dried gore frames this shambler's sagging visage. It was once an impressive and stern one many an arcane student in the region feared. When living death swept across the land, however, his arcane might was not enough to save him... or his students. Still wearing ragged robes, his grey flesh is lined with once-protective magical scars that grow sallow with stolen magic and souls. He must eat to remain a thinking creature, all other concerns long forgotten in his maggot-eaten brain. -Records of the Charnel House Dean of Death Medium undead (zombie), neutral evil Armor Class 8 (11 with mage armor) Hit Points 90 (12d8 + 36) Speed 20ft Str 15 Dex 7 Con 16 Int 16 Wis 9 Cha 5 Saving Throws Wis +2 Skills Arcana +6 Condition Immunities exhaustion, poisoned Damage Immunities poison Senses darkvision 60 ft., passive Perception 9 ...

The Brewer

Bloated by zombified yeast and endless bile, this shambler wanders the trade district where he died searching for undead patrons to 'serve' and living things to kill. Wearing a soiled apron, carrying broken mugs, and with a barrel strapped to its back, it's easy to tell this beast's living profession. Oozing boils dot its pallid skin, leaking skunked ale. From the way it sways instead of shuffles, it's not hard to imagine that this zombie is drunk. Likewise, it seems fueled by booze-fueled rage despite being dead. Too many slayers have fallen to its flying fists or vile spew. -Records of the Charnel House The Brewer Medium undead (zombie), neutral evil Armor Class 8 Hit Points 45 (6d8 + 18) Speed 20ft Str 15 Dex 6 Con 17 Int 6 Wis 12 Cha 8 Saving Throws Wis +1 Condition Immunities charmed, exhaustion, exhaustion, poisoned Damage Immunities poison Sen...

Belfry Hop

Clad in a filthy, ragged friar's robe, this horror still haunts the bell tower he once tended when the region was full of life and laughter. His ever-rotting husk first became fodder for crawlers, and then a feeding ground for the bats which fed on them. Some zombified essence transferred for the winged vermin forever bonding them to the shambler... and vice versa. Empowered by this connection, the zombie and its bats hunt for food as one. It isn't uncommon to find the latter nesting in the former. -Records of the Charnel House Belfry Hop Medium undead (zombie), neutral evil Armor Class 13 Hit Points 78 (12d8 + 24) Speed 20ft Str 14 Dex 16 Con 15 Int 6 Wis 12 Cha 8 Saving Throws Wis +3 Skills: Stealth +5, Survival +3 Condition Immunities charmed, exhaustion, exhaustion, poisoned Damage Immunities poison Senses darkvision 60 ft., passive Perception 10 ...

Gravestone Gorgon

Slain by a hero, this shambling horror did not lay quietly but she still rots. The lethal wound was a slice across the throat which didn't quite lop off her head. With what life energy remained, the medusa turned her killer to stone. When living death claimed the land, her corpse was still fresh enough to rise. Though, the snakes atop her head are putrid, seeping tendrils and her once envious curves hang from pitted bones by strands of fetid meat. Leftover venom bubbled from slit throat and cracks in her rancid skin. While this terror can no longer petrify targets, she can still hold them fast as venom burns through their bodies. -Records of the Charnel House Gravestone Gorgon Medium undead (zombie), lawful evil Armor Class 8 Hit Points 52 (7d8 + 21) Speed 30ft Str 15 Dex 6 Con 16 Int 7 Wis 12 Cha 7 Saving Throws Wis +3 Condition Immunities charmed, exhaustion, exhaustion,...

Lady of the Grotto

Pale and perfect, the Lady of the Grotto served the spiritual and sensual needs of her flock before death claimed the land. Risen with the rest, she no longer needs to soothe the soulless and sexless, yet they gather unto her cave-borne temple just the same. Despite her zombified state, the dead, sacred strumpet is as white as the marble statues littered about the district. If she remains still long enough, her open wounds and ruptured flesh temporarily seal shut. Nude as she is these days, the zombie can easily be mistaken for one of these statues. Once she strikes and all the wounds yawn wide once more, the illusion is broken. By then, it's already too late and her shambling faithful are stirred into a frenzy. -Records of the Charnel House Lady of the Grotto Medium undead (zombie), chaotic evil Armor Class 12 Hit Points 66 (12d8 + 12) Speed 30ft Str 14 Dex 15 Con 13 Int 9 Wis 10 Cha 14 ...
