Slasher Mimic

This variety of mimic likes two things, committing murder and being lazy. Its form of a ‘magic sword’ fulfills both roles. When disguised as an enchanted blade that provides an aura of silence around the wielder, the mimic tends to be used by all manner of assassins and killers that slice and dice its prey for it! It may be even some time before the humanoid using the slasher mimic even realizes that the blade isn’t self cleaning, but rather eating itself clean. If it can’t find a like-minded companion, the monstrosity simply waits until some fool picks it up and plunges into their breast. Easy, peasy and it gives it a food supply to munch on until someone worthy comes and pulls it out. Hourglass Mimic

For a mimic laying in wait for its next meal, there is nothing to do but bid its time. That is, of course, unless one figures out how to feast on time itself. The hourglass mimic hasn’t mastered this feat yet, not exactly anyway. It has, however, figured out to latch onto the lifespan of nearby prey and siphon fragments of it away. How the monstrosity came across these abilities is up for speculation. Appearing as an hourglass, it will often suck away a creature’s hours until the meal succumbs to exhaustion before feasting. Boot Mimic

These small monstrosities are a living contradiction. On the one hand, the boot mimic is happy to sit and wait for food to slip its feet in and then pretend to be a magic item until it is the right time to feast. On the other, once its revealed its form, the mimic is a quick-blooded creature rushing about the battlefield as it wears its meal down. There are tales of humanoids that have bonded with these mimics, using them as magic items and allies in exchange for food. Though, this may just be a cruel trick to get people to put on these ankle-biters. Grit Fiend

Born into a body of dirt and sand-scoured bones, the grit fiend is an unholy blend of beast and human. Its lower half is covered with desiccated brush mimicking shaggy for with split hooves for feet. The fiend’s torso is whip thin, its wiry arms end in spindly claws. Its head is that of a disfigured goat with a cleft palate perpetually sneering and antlers sprawling from its temples instead of goat horns. Blood Drinker. Manifested by the Demon Wind as it whistles through the Fractured plane, the grit fiend gorges on mortal blood whenever the chance arises. The infernal not only guzzles freshly spilled blood and laps at it as a cat might, but every sandy mote of its being absorbs it. The fiend’s ideal state is stained from crown to sole in wet crimson, which doesn’t stay moist for long. Much like water atop desert sand, the blood disappears quickly leaving the grit fiend in an ever-present state of thirst. Grit Fiend Medium fiend, neutral evil

Lunar Mimic

Once, a spelljammer wrecked on a lonely, but animal-populated asteroid. The mimic that caused the disaster found the fauna on the floating rock delicious and invigorating. It didn’t expect to mutate and grow to immense size, eventually becoming a small moon onto itself, but there it was. It wasn't long before the lunar mimic cruised the spaceways, feeding on space-born prey and dropping its spore on other verdant asteroids. Thankfully, most lunar mimics perish before they achieve their mobile stage, but even one of the horrors can devastate a stellar tradeway or wreak havoc across a planetary system. Maestoso

The elemental wears a golden mask, angelic in its visage with a silver crown floating just above. Its robes befit an actor playing royalty in the finest theaters; a deep, royal purple trimmed with golden fur. The body within is made up of hundreds of gem-like motes of sound sparkling in the light, though its arms end in long skewers tipped with crooked digits. Arrogance Incarnate. Second in self-importance only to Phantasmagoria itself, the maestoso is born from blustering speeches and fiery orations. A fragment of the demagogue which spoke it in existence dwells within the elemental along with an uncanny spark of intelligence for its kind. The maestoso cannot stand for anything upstaging it and sees every flesh-and-blood creature well beneath its station. While Phantasmagoria finds these particular sound elementals tiring, it often puts them in charge of ongoing schemes for a time so it does not have to micromanage every little thing. Ossuary Mimic

One thing a necropolis is never wanting for is bodies, either those that passed, those disposing of the dead, or foolhardy adventurers plumbing its depths. The other thing commonly found is bones, of course, and this hulking mimic hides its mass as a pile of them. It is easy enough to lay in wait, striking out when the time is right. Often times, heroes try and ‘turn’ the monstrosity. They lose precious seconds and end up devoured. The ossuary mimic can also spin off part of its mass, forming a churning mass of sharpened bone and amorphous meat that shreds stubborn prey in a much-more consumable slurry.
