Nephurzaluz, the Hand of the Cosmos

Towering at thirty-five feet tall, the red-skinned hand is dotted with mismatched eyes ranging from five to ten feet around. The largest of these organs gazes from the tip of each of its six fingers. Some of the eyes appear to be from various humanoids, others from a myriad of beasts, and the last from hitherto unknown species. Before the horror's palm sizzles a fiery sigil of a slit-eye surrounded by mind-bending runes. The symbol blinks, moves, and tracks targets as an actual eye would. Lashing, blue tendrils as long as a man dangle from Nephurzaluz's wrist hiding the entity's hidden, human-sized mouths beneath. Ruination's Herald. The severed hand a god that never was, Nephurzaluz seeks to re-sculpt reality by first plunging it back into the primordial chaos from which it came. Once, the cosmic horror was a sentient golem of wax, bone, and steel. It still retains an iota of the Relict's personality and intends to shape a world that truly loves and adores it as...

Relict Minion: Tallow Luminary

In its natural form, a tallow is a humanoid figure of around six feet in height with blocky features. Its waxen skin holds an oily sheen, broken here and there by a wire framework beneath. Its hair is nothing more than a mess of candle wicks, and its eyes are glazed marbles. While the tallow is genderless it adopts whatever sex The Relict assigns to it and dress accordingly. When the construct assumes the appearance of another race its pallid flesh bubbles and pops while reshaping into what it desires. The eldest of the tallow, luminaries enjoy a mastery of their innate magic approaching that of the Relict herself. They either serve as Mother's personal guard, or manage an entire kingdom's tallow population why the Relict is away. Most find wearing a mortal mask distasteful, preferring their unnatural form unless absolutely necessary. The Relict allows this personality quirk, feeling that the most mature of her progeny have earned the right to be themselves. Unquenchable...

Relict Minion: Mandragore

Slightly smaller than a halfling, the mandragore resembles a human hand blackened by decomposition. A hazy image of an eye flickers on its palm. The eye moves as if it was flesh and blood instead of spectral flame. The tips of each finger end in a jagged nail with the same eerie fire flickering above it. The mandragore can amble along atop a squirm of tiny tentacles dangling from its 'wrist'. However, the horror prefers floating, propelled by its malignant will. On the back of the hand is a fang-filled maw complete with blackened tongue. Enervating Glow. The mandragore's illumination is not the product of some simple flame. The uncanny radiance draws upon the same eldritch force at the Relict's core. That is to say, it is not a light of this sphere and as such those who look upon it find themselves wasting away. By contrast, aberrations and other creatures related to the elder evils find themselves drawn to the glow and they bask in it akin to cats in sunbeams. Fa...

Relict Minion: Snuffer

A snuffer in a sinuous, segmented horror comprised of oily flesh grown about rusty iron plates. The aberration superficially resembles a monstrous centipede with a multitude of short, crimson tentacles instead of legs. Its eyes and toothless gap of a mouth are fused to a set of rune-scribed shears with anfractuous growths wrapped around the handles to work the implement akin to mandibles. A clutch of prehensile cilia at its back end works in a fair imitation of a hand. Malignant Manifestations. The Relict didn't intend to create the first snuffer. The envious construct long wished for the ability to sleep and dream as mortals do. After a generation of alchemical experimentation she discovered a reagent, the fumes of such send her into a trance state. While not truly asleep the Relict experienced a vision of a lightless void, choked with incomprehensible things writhing against one another like an infinite clutch of worms. One of the cyclopean beings grew tired of its blindness ...

Relict Minion: Advanced Tallow

In its natural form, a tallow is a humanoid figure of around six feet in height with blocky features. Its waxen skin holds an oily sheen, broken here and there by a wire framework beneath. Its hair is nothing more than a mess of candle wicks, and its eyes are glazed marbles. While the tallow is genderless it adopts whatever sex The Relict assigns to it and dress accordingly. When the construct assumes the appearance of another race its pallid flesh bubbles and pops while reshaping into what it desires. Tallow Abettor Older, and slightly more powerful than their kin tallow abettors have live enough of a life for the Relict to give them nigh-autonomy. Abettors are given a clutch of younger tallow to command and look after. In addition, the Relict assigns them a general task and/or area to operate in. The abettors do everything they can to make Mother proud. Tallow Wicked The longer a tallow exists, the more potent the magic which animates them becomes. As a wickeds, the tallo...

Relict Minion: Wax Jack

Little more than a cluster of pallid arms extending from a central mass, the wax jack is an abomination even when compared to The Relict's other creations. Using a process deriving from the creation of a flesh golem the wax jax uses parts from a dozen tallows melted together into a fresh, new horror. Two massive, footless trunks lend the construct a lumbering gate. Multicolored, marble eyes dot its arms and core, never blinking and filled with naught but malice. Grisly Candle. The wax jack is surrounded by a faint, sallow glow at all times. Yet, it has no wick or flame to produce the candlelight. When pressed the golem can produce an intense flash of light to confound its foes. In the aftermath the visages of the tallow used in its creation flicker in the wax jack's light for several seconds, their expressions ones of agony. Relict Minion: Tallow

Knife in the Dark. All tallow have a natural inclination toward assassination and spycraft, as that is what their 'mother' designed them for. They innately know how to take advantage of striking first and hard, preferring this method over direct conflict if possible. All of the waxen folk can hide weapons and other small objects within their unnatural corpus, stilettos being the most common instrument squirreled away until it is time to knife an unexpecting target. Loyal S...

Relict Minion: Wax Mephit

A perversion of elemental chaos, candle mephits are artificial creatures patterned off of the common extra-planner nuisance. The Relict developed these creatures while experimenting with small doses of her ichor and wax. Fragments of the divine spark within her alit within the candles she'd made and the wax transformed in small, winged terrors. Unlike true mephits these faux-elementals don't revel in trickery but serve the Relict's whims directly. Comprised of warm wax and flame, candle mephits act like loyal attack dogs. At rest, the creatures take the unassuming shape of lit candles. In death, they cover their slayers with searing tallow which rapidly hardens even as it burns.
