Gingerbread Mimic

There was once a hag that wanted the most impressive house of all. So, she fed and groomed a mimic to form a cheerful-looking abode to entrance children for the hag to eat. In the end, there once was a mimic that ate a hag. It preferred having owners with a fine festive spirit... but still wasn't above eating naughty children. It offers a fine meal in recompense. Greatcoat Mimic

A relative of the Scarf Mimic, the Greatcoat Mimic seeks out creatures in need of its protection. No one is sure why this is, though the prevailing theory is that the first coat mimic was cursed by a winter fey or festive saint it attacked. Now it must protect others from the harsh climate and other foes. If so, it seems this curse passed on to its spawn. It uses its pseudopods not only to attack enemies but also to keep its ward upright and moving as needed. Greatcoat Mimic Medium monstrosity (shapechanger), neutral Armor Class 12 (natural armor) Hit Points 77 (14d8 + 14) Speed 15 ft Str 17 Dex 12 Con 13 Int 7 Wis 15 Cha 9 Skills Perception +7, Stealth +5 Damage Resistances cold Damage Immunities acid Condition Immunities prone Senses darkvision 60 ft, passive Perception 12 Languages - Challenge 3 (700 XP) Shapechanger. Scarf Mimic

While not as malicious as most of its cousins, the scarf mimic is no less vicious when viciousness is called for. This particular breed seeks out those shivering in cold soon after they are gestated. They imprint on these creatures much like a puppy. From there on out, it takes a shape of a warm scarf several feet in length. It also becomes the creature's protector much like a vigilant hound, to continue the analogy. Scarf Mimic Medium monstrosity (shapechanger), neutral Armor Class 13 (natural armor) Hit Points 71 (11d8 + 22) Speed 15 ft Str 16 Dex 13 Con 15 Int 7 Wis 16 Cha 8 Skills Perception +7, Stealth +5 Damage Resistances cold Damage Immunities acid Condition Immunities prone Senses darkvision 60 ft, passive Perception 17 Languages - Challenge 3 (700 XP) Shapechanger. Iced Mimic

An odd and psychotic breed of monstrosity, the ice mimic enters a hibernation state for the warmest season of the year. As soon as the weather turns and snow falls, it awakens and begins its terrifying hunt. Taking the form of snow sculptures, the mimic stalks prey switching from normal to horrid form in the blink of an eye. Its bulk rapidly glows as it gluts on frightened creatures, building up fat before falling into slumber once more. Iced Mimic Medium monstrosity (shapechanger), neutral Armor Class 11 (natural armor) Hit Points 82 (11d8 + 33) Speed 15 ft Climb 15 ft Str 18 Dex 10 Con 16 Int 5 Wis 13 Cha 16 Skills Intimidation +7, Stealth +4 Damage Immunities acid, cold Condition Immunities prone Senses darkvision 60 ft, passive Perception 11 Languages - Challenge 4 (1,100 XP) Shapechanger. Braided Mimic

It's hard to tell if this mimic is one creature or a collection of monstrosities based on its behavior. Its preferred disguise is one of a garland ranging from festive oak vines, to daisy chains, to beaded ropes. In each instance, this is a weave of separate strands coming together as a whole. Why? Because the mimic can unspool into a swarm - separate but whole. In either form, it squirms, slithers, and squeezes the life from its prey. Braided Mimic Medium monstrosity (shapechanger), neutral Armor Class 13 (natural armor) Hit Points 65 (10d8 + 20) Speed 15 ft Climb 15 ft Str 18 Dex 13 Con 15 Int 5 Wis 13 Cha 8 Skills Stealth +5 Damage Immunities acid Condition Immunities prone Senses darkvision 60 ft, passive Perception 11 Languages - Challenge 3 (700 XP) Shapechanger. Solstice Mimic

O festive tree, O festive tree How thorny are thy branches O festive tree, O festive tree How sticky are thy branches Your jaws, so wide in Summer-time Stay sharply keen in Winter-time O festive...wait, O Gods it's a MIMIC! A mimic that has mastered the seasons in fact and in its festive form can sling fire and spread chill. Worse yet, its needles stay in evergreen tree or blob form. Soldier Mimic

Once there was a little girl terrified of rats that scurried around the castle in which she lived. Thankfully, her father possessed a keen and aberrant mind. He found a clutch of mimics and trained them to take the guise of toy soldiers the size of halflings. He also instilled in them a taste for rats and other vermin. Over time, the girl's directions gave the mimics more glitter, bright clothes, and bigger jaws. Many like these mimics to nutcrackers. Taper Mimic

Enamored with fire as to a moth, the taper mimic sought out several different forms. None of them satisfied its monstrosity's desire until it came across a collection of holiday candles. The way the flame the way it cast light through the cold night and captivated its audience inspired the mimic. It finally realized how to produce its own fire... and how to hypnotize its prey. Jingle Mimic

Stunted creatures, jingle mimics barely moved beyond the polyp stage in size and mentality. This may have been from a deep freeze or perhaps some whiff of strange magic. They are joyous creatures, inspired by the bells of a winter festival. Often they will ring just to hear the sound. Yet, they still hunger and take down prey in bounce, tinkling packs. Slaying Mimic Tiny monstrosity (shapechanger), neutral Armor Class 11 (natural armor) Hit Points 12 (5d4) Speed 30ft Str 14 Dex 10 Con 10 Int 5 Wis 12 Cha 4 Skills Stealth +4 Damage Immunities acid Condition Immunities prone Senses darkvision 60 ft, passive Perception 11 Languages - Challenge 1/2(100XP) Shapechanger. Slaying Mimic

An ice-born predator, the slaying mimic appears as an abandoned sleigh on the snow, or one parked just outside a northern community. It's adapted to be a fast predator and uses the chilled climate to its advantage. It waits until potential meals are within striking distance and crushes them under rails. Those that survive, and even those that do not, are stuck to the sleigh as it continues on its bloody path. Thus, it's often easy to track this mimic by the trail of frozen gore that it leaves. Occasionally, a remote village will appease and 'tame' one of these monstrosities with a sharing of meals. They find its independent locomotion useful in getting supplies and people from one place to another. However, when thegame gets thin it is often these villagers that end up devoured when the mimic goes hungry. Saintly Mimic

Every winter, homes and shops across the realm put up displays depicting a saintly creature associated with the snowy holiday. Often, this saint represents the best about society, the wish for peace and harmony. While the saintly mimic presents this in spades, this is only a ruse just like its form to sate its hunger. The monstrosity sets up shop, as it were, at the edge of a town. Slowly, but surely it makes its way closer to the center one meal at a time. This is always done under the cover of night where one might mistake the decoration for a lurching, drunk reveler. During the day, the mimic stays still and soaks in the appreciation of what may very well become its dinner that evening. Saintly Mimic Medium monstrosity (shapechanger), neutral Armor Class 15 (natural armor) Hit Points 67 (9d8 + 27) Speed 15ft Str 16 Dex 12 Con 16 Int 10 Wis 16 Cha 14 Skills Stealth +5 Damage Immuniti...
