Frame Mimic

Rattling from the shadows, a gaggle of rat-gnawed bones march forward eager to slay the living. One of them lags behind, looking a bit more solid than the rest. You know your mace should have broken the leading skeletons to pieces. Yet, it merely cracked bones instead of shattering them. Tentacles lash out from the slower skeleton, adhering to you and pulling you closer to the maw manifesting from its ribcage. This is the frame mimic. The spawn of the ossuary mimic, this monstrosity also feels a kinship to the undead - specifically animated skeletons. It adopts a group of such horrors and its very presence temporarily empowers them. This is why the skeletons keep it around instead of hacking it to pieces as they would any other living thing. On top of that, frame mimics develop a supernatural stubbornness that can only be called boneheaded. So powerful is this force of will, that it mends their wounds as they plough forward against deadly spells. Frame Mimic Medium Monstrosit

Grandfather Mimic

The first grandfather mimic doesn't recall the exact moment it realized time is truly just as malleable as its form. This is mostly because at that point time ceased to be for the monstrosity. Its primative mind expanded and it learned how to play with time to suit its ends. Some think this drove the mimic mad. In fact, all its descendants are quite chaotic. Some strive to make the world around them better, others to sate their own hungers, and the last to tear it all down. They are all well-armed for this with the ability to at least temporarily age foes and even step out of time for a few ticks. At least one works out of a detective's house, aiding the investigator hiddenly when they can't piece a puzzle together. Plush Mimic

Hanging there on the top row of carnival game prizes, so tempting, so large, so fluffy. Every child wants the plush animal as large as a dwarf and it's nice to be wanted. Especially when you are a hungry, ambush predator working with a less than scrupulous barker. In the form of large toy animals, these mimics are hard for anyone to resist, even stalwart heroes. Their natural charm reaches a supernatural level when one holds the 'toy' in their arms and it holds them back with its pseudopods. Too many have been devoured with a grin on their face, which the mimic usually eats last. If that wasn't bad enough, this monstrosity breed can further fluff up its size to ogre proportions if a threat or meal is big enough. The hugs it gives in such a state are exceedingly deadly. Not all plush mimics haunt dark carnivals either. Some have become the trusted protectors of children, commoner and royal alike. Would be assassins are devoured before reaching a sleeping prince and robb

Balloon Mimic

One's first thought as to the origin of balloon mimics usually gravitates toward a demonic circus, a deranged killer in facepaint, or a wish spell gone horribly wrong. None of these are the case. In fact, the first of this subspecies was cultivated by a kind-hearted clown. The mimic polyps ended up hitching a ride with the circus somewhere along the line and when they were discovered the other performers wanted to exterminate them. The clown, however, saw potential. So, he took up the task of raising them right. After all, what can be a better watchdog than a harmless balloon tied to a post? How about the perfect mode of transportation that cannot actually let you go? Bandits raid the circus? It's amazing how fast they break when one of their own is devoured in the air by a feeding frenzy of balloons. Ok, maybe the clown was a bit unhinged but his heart was in the right place. The circus has been remarkably trouble-free since. One cannot argue with the results. Balloon M
