The old man is dead. Your hands are bloody. The old man is dead but you can't stop him from talking. Your hands are bloody. The centipede eats the old, dead man's tongue to help hide the truth. You wake up feeling lonely as if you've lost your closest friend. 2. No one at the party has a face, only masks. Oh, they look like faces that can smile, laugh, even cry. But you can tell they are just masks because the sockets are hollow and the chin is attached to a stick they hold with their sallow-skinned hands. Your mask is broken, though. You see, the stick is missing so you have to hold it directly to your raw, flensed face. It&

Timberlands Campaign Diary Hours had passed since the dire predictions were spoken. In the meantime, the heroes had split up to investigate the harvest festival on their own. Two former knights turned crafters, Landolf and Richriver chatted with Orym. They’d heard tales that there was trouble stirring in Esker Keep on the far side of the colonies. The Timberlands: Session Nine

Session Nine: Shenanigans and Soothsaying An untamed frontier. Dark cults. Fickle fey gods. Ravenous fiends. Nothing black powder and sorcery won't fix... . Timberlands Campaign Diary After recovering from the prolonged battles against the cannibal cult, the party traveled along the banks of the West Orange River. Downstream was the Grim-Faced Bridge, a relic of the dead Empire of Enuk'Lun which still bore the sorcerer-king's face along its columns. The area had been inhabited by a dwarven family, the Longnails, for quite some time. Said dwarves had established a thriving cattle ranch, butchery, and housing for those who passed along this vital route. The East and West Orange Rivers joined into one not far away and was too wide for most to ford. This made the bridge invaluable. The heroes made their way to the road and followed it to the causeway. They found the area inundated with pavilions, stands, and tents for there was a harvest festival in full swing. The L

Timberlands Campaign Diary Gathering in the Lodgemaster's study, the heroes and their allies dared a short rest within a tiny hut spell. They were wary over that hour, expecting a new wave of cultists to assail them. Little did they know that the villains were taking time to fortify as well. The party provided their new friends a few weapons but told the former captives that if they suspect that the champions were slain to flee instead of coming to the rescued. The battered detainees readily agreed. Instead of taking the direct route up the stairs, however, the heroes elected to use a second story balcony as an entry point. They shortly discovered that beyond the balcony's doors there lay a magic barrier not unlike the tiny hut they'd camped in. From within came a gaggle of mangeservants intent on pushing them back o
