Once there was a little girl terrified of rats that scurried around the castle in which she lived. Thankfully, her father possessed a keen and aberrant mind. He found a clutch of mimics and trained them to take the guise of toy soldiers the size of halflings. He also instilled in them a taste for rats and other vermin. Over time, the girl's directions gave the mimics more glitter, bright clothes, and bigger jaws. Many like these mimics to nutcrackers.

Shapechanger.
The mimic can use its action to polymorph into a decorative toy solider or back into its true, amorphous form. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Adhesive (Object Form Only).
The mimic adheres to anything that touches it. A Large or smaller creature adhered to the mimic is also grappled by it (escape DC 12). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage.
Drilled.
The mimic gains immunity to fear-based effects as long as an ally is within 5ft and is not incapacitated.
False Appearance (Object Form Only).
While the mimic remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an ordinary, decorative toy solider.
Grappler.
The mimic has advantage on attack rolls against any creature grappled by it.
