These small monstrosities are a living contradiction. On the one hand, the boot mimic is happy to sit and wait for food to slip its feet in and then pretend to be a magic item until it is the right time to feast. On the other, once its revealed its form, the mimic is a quick-blooded creature rushing about the battlefield as it wears its meal down. There are tales of humanoids that have bonded with these mimics, using them as magic items and allies in exchange for food. Though, this may just be a cruel trick to get people to put on these ankle-biters.

Shapechanger.
The boot mimic can use its action to polymorph into a pair of magic boots which function identical to slippers of spider climb or back into its true, amorphous form. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Adhesive (Object Form Only).
The mimic adheres to anything that touches it. A Huge or smaller creature adhered to the mimic is also grappled by it (escape DC 12). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage.
False Appearance.
While the mimic remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a pair of magic boots which function identical to slippers of spider climb.
Grappler.
The mimic has advantage on attack rolls against any creature grappled by it.
Run off Your Feet.
If the boot mimic is being worn by a creature, whenever it moves, the creature wearing it moves as well.
Quick.
The boot mimic can dash as a bonus action.
