The Star-Crossed

As an entity of pure light and radiation, it is hard to fathom exactly what the star-crossed wants. It is also hard to predict what it will do in any given circumstance because it perceives and reacts to stimuli differently than any flesh and bone creature would. However, most suspect is trying to either atone for, or fulfill the lives of a pair of lovers it accidentally obliterated when it arrived on this sphere. The couple, an elven male and human female, went out to watch falling stars not knowing one would fall on them in turn. The elemental can take the shape of either creature it reduced to atoms and in turn takes on quirks they may have had in life but only in a pantomime fashion. When threatened, or when it believes it is threatened rather, the star-crossed reverts back into its natural form of unidentifiable colors and drives off attackers with potent energy blasts and searing touches. If it takes too much damage, it lashes out with alien frequencies that temporarily twist the forms of every living thing around it until they flee.

Magic Resistance.

The Star-Crossed has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Limited Telepathy.

The Star-Crossed can magically communicate simple ideas, emotions, and images telepathically with any creature within 90 ft. of it.

Mutagenic Rampage.

Whenever the Star-Crossed starts its turn with half hit points or fewer, roll a d6. On a 6, the elemental goes berserk. On each of its turns while berserk, the Star-Crossed attacks the nearest creature it can see. If no creature is near enough to move to and attack, the Star-Crossed attacks an object, with preference for an object smaller than itself. Once the Star-Crossed goes berserk, it continues to do so until it is destroyed or regains all its hit points.

At the beginning of each of the Star-Crossed creature's turns, all other creatures within 20ft must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution save or Mutate and roll on the chart below.

1 - The creature shrinks as per the Enlarge/Reduce spell.

2 - The creature grows as per the Enlarge/Reduce spell.

3- The creature gains advantage on all Strength-based rolls, but disadvantage on all Dexterity based rolls.

4- The creature gains advantage on all Dexterity-based rolls, but disadvantage on all Strength based rolls.

5- The creature's Intelligence is reduced to 3, however, it now deals an additional 1d10 damage on all melee attacks.

6 - The creature's Strength is reduced to 5, however, its spells and spell-like abilities gain +2 DC.

This mutation lasts for 24 hours. A lesser restoration or like spell will cure the mutation.

Shapechanger.

The Star-Crossed can use its action to polymorph into an elven male or human female. Its statistics, other than its size, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It burns away to starlight and screams if it dies.

Actions

Multiattack.

The elemental makes two pseudopod attacks.

Pseudopod.

Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 6(1d8+2) bludgeoning damage plus 4(1d8) fire damage.

Strange Starlight.

Ranged Spell Attack: +6 to hit, range 90 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (3d8+4) fire damage. The target must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or its hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the damage taken. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0.

Mesmerize.

The Star-Crossed locks eyes with a creature it can see within 60-ft. The target must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be paralyzed for the duration. At the end of each of its turns, the target can make another Wisdom saving throw. On a success, the effect ends on the target. The Star-Crossed can only mesmerize one target at a time.

Frame Mimic

Rattling from the shadows, a gaggle of rat-gnawed bones march forward eager to slay the living. One of them lags behind, looking a bit more solid than the rest. You know your mace should have broken the leading skeletons to pieces. Yet, it merely cracked bones instead of shattering them. Tentacles lash out from the slower skeleton, adhering to you and pulling you closer to the maw manifesting from its ribcage. This is the frame mimic. The spawn of the ossuary mimic, this monstrosity also feels a kinship to the undead - specifically animated skeletons. It adopts a group of such horrors and its very presence temporarily empowers them. This is why the skeletons keep it around instead of hacking it to pieces as they would any other living thing. On top of that, frame mimics develop a supernatural stubbornness that can only be called boneheaded. So powerful is this force of will, that it mends their wounds as they plough forward against deadly spells. Frame Mimic Medium Monstrosit...

Brocade Mimic

The masked bard in gaudy attire was strumming away when the bar fight started. It kept playing even as chairs broke and mugs flew. Not one strum was missed even when blood was spilled. Then someone grew sick of the racket and stuck a hand ax into the bard's neck...with a wooden thunk. The fancy vest exploded with teeth, tentacles, and eyes. Then there was the color spray... The first brocade mimic lurked in the rafters of a bard college. Instead of eating a future player, it learned alongside them and caught a passion for the arts. Of course, it could have become an instrument but that wasn't quite grand enough. The mimic became a set of fancy clothes and was worn out the front doors. Sometimes it and its spawn become a bard's best friend. sometimes it pilots a dead one around for a bit, and other times it takes over a mannequin to strike out on its own. No matter how, the show must always go on. Brocade Mimic Medium Monstrosity (shapechanger), neutral ...

Yoke Mimic

Something tore apart the bandits you've been tracking, but it's not obvious what chewed and in some cases melted them. Maybe there's a wyrmling in the area? Either way, all that remains alive in the camp is a pair of oxen burdened by their cart. Though, they are quite nonplussed given the violence that must have occurred around them. Surely these simple beasts couldn't be the case of the carnage, could they? As you ponder this, the oxen start plodding away, pulling the cart of goods with them. Trying to stop them was the logical thing to do... their yoke coming undone with twin, yawning mouths not so logical. You know what that means... initiative rolls, please. Relatively benign, for a mimic, the yoke mimic was cultivated by an industrious farmer. They didn't see the point of wasting an animal that came into their care, even a strange monstrosity such as this one. It became a valuable tool not only to get fields plowed, but also kept the animals attached to it d...
