It's not always the evil and made who breed variations of mimics. The first marquee mimic was lovingly raised by a shopkeep sick of thieves stealing in the dead of night. Needless to say, he had some cleaning up to do on the sidewalk in the morning, but that was a price he was willing to pay. By the time the theives guild came knocking in numbers, the mimic had spawned. Crime statistics quickly plummeted. Soon, the shopkeeps friends started to take up the practice. That was until customers began disappearing as well...

Shapechanger.
The mimic can use its action to polymorph into an awning or back into its true, amorphous form. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Adhesive (Object Form Only).
The mimic adheres to anything that touches it. A Huge or smaller creature adhered to the mimic is also grappled by it (escape DC 15). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage.
False Appearance (Object Form Only).
While the mimic remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an ordinary awning.
Grappler.
The mimic has advantage on attack rolls against any creature grappled by it.
Marching Order (Object Form Only).
A creature playing the bagpipe mimic in its instrument form is immune to fear and has immunity to sonic damage as long as they continue to play.
As long as the creature continues to play it may grant a number of creatures equal to its Charisma bonus (minimum 1) advantage on saves versus fear.
Actions
Pseudopod.
Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage. If the mimic is in object form, the target is subjected to its Adhesive trait.
Bite.
Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) piercing damage plus 9 (2d8) acid damage.
Headline
The mimic chooses a creature it can see within 30ft. For the next minute the mimic and any friendly mimics know the exact location of that creature as long as it is within 100 ft of them. The marquee mimic also deals an additional 3 (1d6) bludgeoning damage on successful attacks against that target. The mimic can only choose one creature to Headline at a time.
Bonus Actions
Roll Up (Object Form Only).
The mimic rolls itself around a creature it is grappling with and covers it completely. Any other creatures grappling the mimic automatically escape. The mimic cannot grapple new creatures as long as it is rolled up.
The engulfed creature is blinded, restrained, and cannot breathe. It gains total cover from all other creatures except the mimic. During its turn, the mimic may use its Bonus Action to attempt a Bite attack against the creature. If the creature escaped the mimic's grapple it is no longer engulfed.
