Gigas

Standing forty-five feet tall, the Gigas is a mechanical work unrivalled across the globe. The construct’s body is roughly humanoid and comprised of interlocking, sandstone plates embossed with forgotten glyphs and dedications to dead deities. Its arms end in three-fingered gauntlets of meteorite metal which are attached to wenches and star-forged chains within the warmachine’s forearms. Its feet are merely wide stumps, not unlike an elephant, scrolled with the bas-relief of a landscape from before recorded history and stained from the countless lives the Gigas has stamped out. Its stone-wings match the eagle-like head between jewel-encrusted shoulders. While the appendages bear no articulation the powerful, forgotten magic etched into each stone pinion allows the truly massive statue to fly. Its head sports a single eye of an impossibly large ruby, and a likewise ludicrous-sized sapphire is inset in the construct’s sternum. The Gigas’s beak is hinged, so it might open it to roar and shriek as it pulverizes its foes.

Civilization Killer. The secrets of its construction lay beneath swirling desert sands, thankfully never to see the light of day. One such machine in the world is enough. What has been gathered by intrepid explorers is that the long-forgotten kingdom was beset on all sides by titanic monsters still roaming the world after its creation. Too many times the civilization was brought onto the edge of extinction by these towering horrors until they sacrificed enough war-won slaves from nearby peoples to garner the attention of a fickle god. The deity struck down the next polypheme to enter their lands. It then declared that the people would have to figure out to how to kill the next one on their own.

Every artificer, craftsman, warlock and witch across the kingdom were conscripted into coming up with a solution. They soon noted that the dead behemoth was not rotting, so there had to be some magic still left to the thing. A mad plan was hatched to build a guardian equal to the giant monsters. It took nearly two decades for the enchanted sandstone shell to be built around the metal skeleton of the Gigas. Another was wasted installing the brain and muscles of the felled colossus and infusing them with sacrifice-fueled necromancy. Once it was done, The Gigas’ single eye flickered to life and its sapphire heart pulsed in time. The titan’s soul powered the machine while binding runes kept it under the control of the nation. The next time one of the giant monsters attacked the kingdom, the Gigas tore it apart. Within two generations the horrors left the civilization alone and so they took it hunting. Of course, this was an excuse to use their towering construct to ‘liberate’ the other kingdoms they came across. One thing they did not note, however, was the binding sigils of the Gigas were wearing down under time.

However, there came time when the heart of the spanning empire came under attack by a giant creature once more. By the time its conquering army and the Gigas returned the expanding frontier, the capital was in ruins with the titan nesting in the smoldering remains. The Gigas was immediately ordered to attack it and their battle was fierce enough to flatten what few buildings remained and buckle the land. In the end, the Gigas ended up snapping its foes neck, but it also snapped the construct’s last bindings and sanity. The creature the Gigas held in its star-metal hands was the mate of the soul that empowered it. Like a vengeance-driven revenant, it turned on the army around it and then the empire that leashed it. By the time the Gigas’ rampage ended, nothing of that people remained save scattered refuges soon absorbed in once-conquered populations.

In the desert sands, the Gigas still remains, active and insane. Occasionally, it will rouse from its brooding ennui and wander the world in search of an equal foe. From time to time, the truly desperate have even pointed it in the direction of a titan or elder wyrm. Either way devastation is always left in its wake.

The Gigas regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn if it is not at 0 hit points.

Siege Monster.

The Gigas deals double damage to objects and structures.

Tracking Systems.

As a bonus action the Gigas magically marks a foe. For the next hour, it deals an additional 10 (3d6) damage to the target whenever it hits it with a weapon attack. It has advantage on any Wisdom (Perception) or Wisdom (Survival) check it makes to find it. If the target drops to 0 hit points before the spell ends, the Gigas' actions automatically recharge.

Actions

Multiattack

The Gigas makes one beak and two punch attacks as one action. It can also use a recharged action as well.

Beak:

Melee Weapon Attack: +17 to hit, reach 10ft., one target. Hit: 34 (4d12 + 8) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 25 Constitution save or be Stunned until the end of their next turn.

Punch:

Melee Weapon Attack: +17 to hit, reach 15ft., one target. Hit: 30 (4d10 + 8) bludgeoning damage.

Flying Fists (Recharge 4-6):

The Gigas chooses a creature it can see within 120 feet and fires its hands-on-chains at it. The creature must succeed on a DC 19 Dexterity save or take 55 (10d10) bludgeoning damage. In addition, the creature is grappled. On success, the creature takes no damage and is not grappled.

If the grappled creature is Huge or smaller it is pulled 110ft closer to the Gigas as the construct reels the chains back in.

If the grappled creature is Gargantuan sized the Gigas makes a Strength (Athletics) check contested by the target’s Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check (the target chooses the ability to use). If the Gigas win the contest it pulls the creature closure as above. If it loses the contest its hands return to it empty.

Scorching Ray Barrage (Recharge 5-6):

The Gigas chooses a point it can see within 320 feet and peppers it with scorching rays produced by its eye in a 30ft radius. All creatures in the area of effect must succeed on a DC 19 Dexterity save or (5d10) fire damage, half as much on success.

Magic Missile Fusillade (Recharge 6):

The Gigas generates 20 glowing darts of magical force from its chest gem. Each dart hits a creature of its choice that it can see within 120 ft. A dart deals 1d4 + 1 force damage to its target. The darts all strike simultaneously, and the Gigas can direct them to hit one creature or several.

Legendary Actions

The Gigas can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The Gigas regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Punch (1 point).

The Gigas makes a punch attack.

Tracking Targets (1 point).

The Gigas moves its Tracking Systems to a new creature.

Zephyr Slam (2 points).

The Gigas flies up into the air 40ft and then slams back to earth in the same space it left. This movement does not provoke an Opportunity attack. All creatures within 60ft must succeed on a DC 25 Strength save or take 20 (6d6) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone, half as much damage on a success.

If a creature fails this save by 5 or more, in addition to taking the damage above and being knocked prone the creature is stunned until the end its next turn.

Glowing Scythe (3 Points).

The Gigas summons a glowing scythe of radiant energy and attempts to vertically bifurcate its foe into two parts. The target must succeed on a DC 25 Constitution save or be reduced to 0 hit points. If the creature succeeds on the save they take 50 radiant damage instead.

Frame Mimic

Rattling from the shadows, a gaggle of rat-gnawed bones march forward eager to slay the living. One of them lags behind, looking a bit more solid than the rest. You know your mace should have broken the leading skeletons to pieces. Yet, it merely cracked bones instead of shattering them. Tentacles lash out from the slower skeleton, adhering to you and pulling you closer to the maw manifesting from its ribcage. This is the frame mimic. The spawn of the ossuary mimic, this monstrosity also feels a kinship to the undead - specifically animated skeletons. It adopts a group of such horrors and its very presence temporarily empowers them. This is why the skeletons keep it around instead of hacking it to pieces as they would any other living thing. On top of that, frame mimics develop a supernatural stubbornness that can only be called boneheaded. So powerful is this force of will, that it mends their wounds as they plough forward against deadly spells. Frame Mimic Medium Monstrosit...

Brocade Mimic

The masked bard in gaudy attire was strumming away when the bar fight started. It kept playing even as chairs broke and mugs flew. Not one strum was missed even when blood was spilled. Then someone grew sick of the racket and stuck a hand ax into the bard's neck...with a wooden thunk. The fancy vest exploded with teeth, tentacles, and eyes. Then there was the color spray... The first brocade mimic lurked in the rafters of a bard college. Instead of eating a future player, it learned alongside them and caught a passion for the arts. Of course, it could have become an instrument but that wasn't quite grand enough. The mimic became a set of fancy clothes and was worn out the front doors. Sometimes it and its spawn become a bard's best friend. sometimes it pilots a dead one around for a bit, and other times it takes over a mannequin to strike out on its own. No matter how, the show must always go on. Brocade Mimic Medium Monstrosity (shapechanger), neutral ...

Yoke Mimic

Something tore apart the bandits you've been tracking, but it's not obvious what chewed and in some cases melted them. Maybe there's a wyrmling in the area? Either way, all that remains alive in the camp is a pair of oxen burdened by their cart. Though, they are quite nonplussed given the violence that must have occurred around them. Surely these simple beasts couldn't be the case of the carnage, could they? As you ponder this, the oxen start plodding away, pulling the cart of goods with them. Trying to stop them was the logical thing to do... their yoke coming undone with twin, yawning mouths not so logical. You know what that means... initiative rolls, please. Relatively benign, for a mimic, the yoke mimic was cultivated by an industrious farmer. They didn't see the point of wasting an animal that came into their care, even a strange monstrosity such as this one. It became a valuable tool not only to get fields plowed, but also kept the animals attached to it d...
